Mission Statement:
The mission of CLSLI is to present legal sign language interpreters an
opportunity to enhance skills and augment knowledge in the specialized
field of legal and judicial interpreting by providing quality training and
education in a focused environment that is conducive to discussion,
learning, and mutual mentoring.
Philosophy Statement:
The philosophy of CLSLI is based on the principle of “iron sharpens
iron”, i.e., promoting excellence and distinction in the provision of
sign language interpreting services in legal and judicial settings through
high caliber seminars and collegial interchange.
Prerequisites:
Documentation of at least 24 seminar hours of an introduction to or
fundamentals of legal/court/judicial interpreter training and valid
RID (CT, CI, CSC, SC:L, CDI, CI, CT, NAD V, AND or NAD-RID NIC national
certification. (Waivers for specific state credentials for legal
interpreting may be requested.)
